The thing I love most about drinking beer is that anyone can walk into a bar at any time of the day or night, order a beer and usually find someone willing to chew the fat.

With the popularity of "extreme" beers, the casual conversation is becoming endangered. They are big, bold and flavorful - and also very high in alcohol. It doesn't take many to lose the motivation for chatting and leave you searching for a designated driver. I give major respect to a great "session" beer - so-called because you can drink several in a session and still get up in time for work the next day. Williamsburg AleWerks is a great session brewery. Its newest year-round daily-drinker is Red Marker Ale. It is a deep, brownish red ale with a big malty presence, full of flavor, solid in body and easy on the alcohol. The beer has a tiny head and a crazy aroma of malt, sweetness and a slightly sour twang. Light carbonation and a nice cocktail-cherry flavor ease you into the beer. After the sweet-tart flavors comes a burst of grainy caramel breadiness, followed by a swift, sharp finish of mild hops.
