Bill Bartel is a reporter on the state and military team. He covers federal and state issues and politics, including South Hampton Roads' congressional delegation.
Bill has been with The Virginian-Pilot since 1999. He has been a newspaperman for 30 years, having previously worked as a reporter and an editor in Illinois, Wisconsin and Kansas. He has a B.S. in journalism from Northern Illinois University.
He and his wife, Isobel, live in Chesapeake. They have four children.
