CHESAPEAKE
Salvation from pain at the pump is coming on Sunday at Exodus Faith Ministries, where gas cards totaling as much as $1,000 will be given away in a drawing.
“The church ought to be a place where you look not just to be preached at, but to get some practical help,” said Bishop E. W. Jackson, Sr., the church’s founding pastor.
Visitors attending the church’s 11:30 a.m. service at 1701 Park Ave. will qualify for the drawing that will distribute cards valued at $20, $25, $50 or $100 worth of gasoline.
To be eligible, visitors cannot belong to Exodus or any other church. They must sit through the service and also provide vehicle registration documents to prove they are a licensed owner or primary operator of a vehicle.
“We believe that God loves people and cares about their everyday cares and concerns and needs,” Jackson said. “In my opinion, based on the pain I sense that people are feeling, it’s already a crisis,” he said of gas prices.

Hmmm
A friend was telling me in India the Christian ministries go over there and offer what amounts to about $1000 US for each person to convert. So the dudes take it, then convert back. The missionaries rotate every year, so the Indians can do it about once a year. Forget Salvation, it's the path to a flat panel TV! Religion cracks me up.
Well Done!
It is encouraging to see a church seek new and practical ways to serve people's needs... It demonstrates a true caring for people outside the immediate congregation, and also helps to get the message of God's gift out to someone who might otherwise miss it. Good work I say!!
Church Gas Lottery
This is beyond ridiculous. In effect, a church-sponsored lottery.
My Goodness
Now if they can figure out how to have Bingo at Mass, things might get a little more exciting. A real miracle to witness, perhaps...
