Police have identified a man whose body was found floating in a pond Saturday evening near the Norfolk border.

Police initially were treating the death of Larry Banks, 59, as suspicious but now say he appears to have drowned, according to Christi Golden, police spokeswoman.  Detectives are waiting for a report from the medical examiner's office confirming the cause of death.

Banks was discovered about 6:45 p.m., in a pond in the 2700 block of Campostella Road, police said.

Banks lived in the 1400 block of Oliver Avenue in Chesapeake, according to Golden.
