Huh?
Deluded by liberal society. That is a great statement: that liberal thinking people are deluded. By whose definition of delusion? I went into college a young Republican enamored with Reagan and during Bush I "saw the light" and am now neither conservative or liberal but have positions that go both directions. Making blanket statements about whole populations and one's perceived failings of said people is certainly not what I would expect form anyone who knows human nature. It is the blatant political partisanship and pidgeon holing that is dividing this country-that somehow one side had a better grasp than another on all the issues. No wonder we are in such a mess.
Ira
I almost forgot. Wanted to comment on one of your previous statements.
Yes, I did graduate from a Liberal University (University of Iowa.)
I was taken in by all the liberalism that surrounded me and was very much a liberal for about 10 years, thereafter, until "I saw the light".
My wish for you is to become "less deluded by our liberal society" sometime in the future.
Victoria
Ira
Sorry to burst your bubble, Ira, but I am 60 years old with a Master's Degree in Social Work/Psychology. I believe Physical Education and Women's Studies are the degrees that are handed out left and right.
victoria
It's ok. You can pretend you never heard of it.
Liberal college slant
Anyone remember that psychology was the easy degree in college? Now we have more and more poor students acting as "therapists" than ever. Nevermind the fact that many are not even qualified with an undergrads exposure to the science/art/whatever. I find it humorous that you would attack university education as being completely liberal. If you are indeed carrying a degree, wouldn't the same "liberal" education be what you used to qualify your statement? Do you have a degree? LOL
This is not intended as a jab at qualified psychologists operating today. I know there are many. If anyone would like to know what garned this comment please read the 'diagnosis' provided by Victoria the "threrapists."
Ira
When you have been a mental health therapist for as many years as I have been, you can size people up rather quickly. Granted, a full battery of psychological testing would give the official diagnosis but there are other aspects of human behavior that can be viewed and used in the diagnosis process. Most mental health professionals would tell you the same thing.
One does not have to be a Psychiatrist or Rocket Scientist to figure Hill out.
I think she is highly intelligent and that's what makes her such a good manipulator of people who do not have a clue.
Be aware of Obama. Could he be the next "Anti-Christ"?
Victoria
Keith
And where is the proof of that. I have never heard anything on that. Do you have some inside proof that no one else does?
Huh?
Without a doubt, the most confused but revealing post ever. You cannot bring yourself to admit, though everyone else sees it clearly, that you were referring to Jim Jones. But in the end, you are right. You don't need facts to back up your opinions. Reread that again slowly. No response necessary; you have made it clear your disdain for fact based discourse.LOL
victoria
"It blows my mind that you think staying with a serial adulter like Bill Clinton is acceptable. Probably in your liberal world it is, but not in mine."
Different worlds alright. In the republican world it is acceptable for Bush to have his homosexual prostitute visit him in the White House.
Explaining A Metaphor & answering 3 of 5 questions..
It was not referring to Jim Jones. If it was it would have said "Jim Jones serving the kooliad." It was actually referring to the "poison" in the "koolaid". It was a "play" on the "Koolaid". Perhaps this will help..*Poison--7. to ruin, vitiate, or corrupt" IE {His reasoning has been poisoned by speculation.} I have asked no questions in my comments. Response is usually not mandatory on an "opinion." Your choice. Provoking further responses... Your last post asks 5 questions. I can't see them all right now, but, I'm "guessing" that all of your comments thus far have asked questions. 2 of your 5 latest questions have already been answered..IE Question--Bored & Why. answer is in previous comment..Answer(Yes)&(You).. lol....I hope this clears it up.
*Dictionary.com--metaphor is probably there as well..
Harumph
"Believe me, I and millions of others have thought long and hard about our options, and have concluded that Obama is the right choice. "
Please explain why Obama is the "right choice." I have been asking for months and no one answers. Remember, if you use the words 'hope' or 'change,' it needs to be backed up with how it will occur.
To Dead Head: I think you misunderstood. I agree, it is not a contest. I was pointing out that the poster claimed to be a mental health therapist, thus a person who would recongnize you cannot diagnose someone without facts could not make such a baseless statement. Surely you cannot do so via news reports. Wouldn't you agree that an objective psychological report would be the "intellecutual" source of such a finding?
Pretty Funny
How disenuous can you get? Mentioning kool aid was not supposed to be a reference to Jim Jones...? Please, at least be honest. But you are right, you probably did not miss my point, you just refused to respond because you did not want to admit to having the very character flaw you so despise in Obama supporters. And you're bored? From what? Feeling the need to respond to someone who challenges your continuing slurs? Stop responding with posts designed to provoke further responses. I am just not someone who will let boorish nonsense like that go uncommented on. Sorry.
Re Abuse...Actually
You were the first to mention Jim Jones. My "picture" mentioned kooliad. If that offends anyone just "picture" any mixed powdered beverage. I would also like to mention that just because a point was not commented on does not mean the point was missed. I may have consider the point moot, obvious, or unworthy of a comment. I also didn't mention Lemmings until after another poster mentioned going over a cliff. If you review my original post, it says I "picture"..It is intentionally worded that way, so as not to be misinterrupted as fact, but, rather an opinion. Make no mistake, anyone, do not interpret "whitewashing" from another poster as an apology from me. I make no apology for my opinion! You do a lot of guessing on my previous voting habits as well. Character count forces me to be brief, & you are boring me. Adios..lol
Poor Misled Ira
Sounds like Ira could be one of those "know it all Liberal college profesors", who is in the classroom teaching liberal psychology but does not have a clue how to do therapy with troubled individuals.
It blows my mind that you think staying with a serial adulter like Bill Clinton is acceptable. Probably in your liberal world it is, but not in mine.
The Election
We are getting as bad as the politicians, attacking each other inanely in this discussion. I don't care whether we support the same candidate, but I really don't care to be called "stupid" because of whom I support either (I'm not telling ya'll).
At least we can run three candidates, not face a junta like the one in Myanmar which quietly re-elected itself while perhaps 100,000 of its countrymen are dying! In fact, some of us in our "military-industrial complex" would even put our lives on the line to protect the right of some of you to bash our opinions, choice of career, or other things. America seems to love a good, divisive argument. All of you are entitled to your opinions but I sure wish some of you would learn to express them without attack. Sincerely, Mary G. Martin, Virginia Beach
Abuse? What abuse?
Come on. You compare a presidential candidate to a drug addicted, slimy cult leader who encouraged his followers to commit suicide and murder, and those who disagree with this are "abusing" you? Please. And you go on to compare those who might vote for him to those followers who committed murder and suicide, oh and also called them "jackasses". Again, I assume you were a lemming or kool aid drinker in 2004. Please enlighten us on how you would consider yourself otherwise in light of what your candidate pledged in 2000, versus what he actually did in the ensuing years leading up to the 2004 election, where you voted for him again...You know, the question should be who will do a better job leading our country. Many posters on this blog have pointed out convincing evidence that each one of these presumptive candidates fall short of what each of us might wantin a candidate. But this junk comparing people to Jim Jones and calling supporters "jackasses", it just proves once again why so many people are turned off on the whole political process. Regardless of your feelings toward Obama does anyone out there think this is truly funny?
LOL: OK
I'll take the abuse,& with a smile... but, I can hardly be blamed for the Democrats choosing a jackass for thier icon..lol
The Choices
Sad that we have so little to choose from. The problem is that better candidates don't want to get down and wallow in the pig pen of politics, and who could blame them. It will be an interesting four years ahead.
Re: Lemmings, Kool Aid, Cult, etc.
Using the Jim Jones analogy to defend against a lemmings analogy? That's supposed to be better? As far as Bush being irrelevant to the discussion, you didn't get the point. You compare Obama to the leader of a cult whose members committed mass suicide/murder at the behest of their leader. You then compare those who might vote for him as members of that cult. You fail to see the irony in your lemming / cult like support of the current president, who I believe has actually provided a great deal of actual reasons to not vote for him, but you did anyway. So, what's worse? Supporting someone who may lead you the wrong way, or supporting someone who has already lead you the wrong way? Based on the 2004 election, it is not hard to see the answer. And that is "sad".
plenty of lemmings
Republicans are following McCain like the lemmings that they also are. McCain was way down in the dirt for the nomination but the others proved to be so weak that McCain got it by way of being "last man standing." Now they follow him simply because he has "Republican" printed on his campaign signs.
Gracious? Hardly.
Contractorva, is it gracious to call Obama supporters lemmings and jackasses? Hey, you're entitled to your opinion, but don't try to white wash what you just said.
I am a very active voter, always have been. I take my vote very seriously. Believe me, I and millions of others have thought long and hard about our options, and have concluded that Obama is the right choice. You don't agree? Fine, you should vote accordingly. But please stop with the tired accusations that Obama supporters are merely star-struck groupies. You're basically insulting half the country.
Re: Obama... Koolaid Drinking......Lemmings..LOL
I was trying to be gracious, but figured I would draw at least some flak. That's what I get for defending Mr Obama from the "Lemming" scenario..of course if you prefer the "Leaping Lemmings" over "suspicious koolaid" ...by all means.... form your own pictures, take a sip..&/or leap/vote accordingly...As to GW Bush..he has never & is not running against Mrs Clinton, or Mr Obama,, so I consider such comparisons "sad"...& to a greater degree irrelevant. I size Mr Bush up as a Sunny D man anyway....LOL

Boss - de plane, de plane
“A true professional would shudder” at the notion that infidelity ends a relationship? What are we doing here? Is this an intellectual exploration or does the person with the biggest pile win?
Unqualified Victoria
I studied a great deal of psychology my dear. Your statements would not pass muster in an intro/freshman course.
"I have been a mental health therapist for over 25 years and I can tell you, Ms. Murphy, that Hillary Clinton has no dignity what so ever."
Nice try though. I could take your entire letter apart, and I should due to your attempt to paint yourself as qualified to make such a judgement, but it is not that important this morning. Are you usiong your education and time on the couch w/ Mrs. Clinton or your biased crystal ball?
With all the flaws in your letter, the one that really bothers me is that as a "mental health therapist" you feel people should end their relationships due to infidelity. A true profesional would shudder at your words.
Obama Cult?
Trying to compare Obama to Jim Jones is just sad. But I would ask who would you compare the current president to? As I recall, this president scared over half of our voters into voting for him, by utilizing the full force of the government to constantly warn against the grave and growing terorist threats....and in the process made our brave nation look like a bunch of quivering cowards, ready to give up any of their rights because the administration said if we didn't the bad terrorists would attack again. Please. In 2000, while running for presdient, he told everyone he would be a uniter, not a divider. He said he would not get into nation building. And in 2004, having done exactly the opposite of what he pledged, you probably voted for him again. So please, when you compare Obama to someone like Jim Jones, consider what flavor of kool aid you've swallowed so willingly over the last 7+ years.
Obama Cult
I don't picture those following Obama as lemmings going over a cliff, but, instead picture Obama serving "Koolaid", to thirsty "Jackasses" who apparently are in search of a new flavor, without consideration of the consequences.
Not Sure
I'm not sure if Hillary Clinton or any of the presidential candidates have any dignity because they are all lying to the American people. They are all members of the same clueless power clique that has led our nation to be in the shape it is today. After listening to any of the three candidates it makes you wonder how can they possibly be the best America has? I keep hoping another choice with some common sense will appear.
Mr. & Mrs.
I found reading the name Clinton and the word DIGNITY together in one sentence to be Quite Amusing.
Clinton's Dignity
I have been a mental health therapist for over 25 years and I can tell you, Ms. Murphy, that Hillary Clinton has no dignity what so ever.
Anyone who would stay with Bill after all of his womanizing shows stupidity not dignity. Of course, I am sure she has been using him like he uses her.
Hillary is after "power and control" any way she can get it.
She is an Eliteist, Secularist, Socialist and appears to have a Narcissitic Personality. She has a casual disregard for the law.
There is much more to say about her, but I am sure that you get my point.
No, I am not an Obama fan either....
Wow..
Citizens becoming deeply offended over another citizen's right to express how they feel about a candidate. Has our country (under the Uniter POTUS) gotten so divided that the mear exercising of a Constitutional right (free speach) over open support for a candidate causes others to become offended? How can one purport to believe in democracy but at the same time be disdainful of citizens expressing political support for a candidate that they themselves do not approve of? The debate should be about the merit of a candidate and their stands on the issues not about attacking the views of others. And as for Hillary supposedly being the best that can be offered (stated in such a way to be taken as an insult), all I have to say is what did Bush have coming into office? Our country certainly had much better to offer but that is what we got. For now all three candidates do not show me much of anything, but for differing reasons.
