College graduation speakers include attorney general, governor

POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE will be the order of the day throughout Hampton Roads starting today as local colleges and universities conduct their annual commencement ceremonies.

Here are some of the scheduled speakers:

Today

Tidewater Community College - Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell. 7 p.m. Ted Constant Convocation Center at Old Dominion University.

Saturday

Old Dominion University - Two ceremonies. Pulitzer prize-winning columnist Leonard Pitts at 9 a.m. and MSNBC political broadcaster Chris Matthews at 2 p.m. Both in Ted Constant Convocation Center.

 Norfolk State University - Gov. Timothy M. Kaine. 9:30 a.m. William Price Football Stadium.

 Regent University - Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell. 9:30 a.m. University Library plaza.

Sunday

Hampton University - Christopher Gardner, CEO of Christopher Gardner International Holdings and the author of "The Pursuit of Happyness," which was the subject of a 2006 film. 10 a.m. Armstrong Stadium.

 College of William and Mary - Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, who is also an alumnus. Noon. William and Mary Hall.

Tuesday

Thomas Nelson Community College - Old Dominion University President Roseann Runte. 7 p.m. Hampton Coliseum.

 Thursday

Paul D. Camp Community College - North Carolina District Judge Brenda Branch. 7 p.m. Regional Workforce Development Center, Franklin.

 Friday

Virginia Wesleyan College - Stephen L. Johnson, administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. 11 a.m. Jane P. Batten Student Center.
