Conference USA Freshman of the Year Tia Lewis of the University of Central Florida has transferred to Old Dominion.

The 6-foot-3 center/forward from Poulan, Ga., averaged a team-high 12 points and 11.5 rebounds for UCF last season while shooting 53 percent from the field. Lewis started all 29 games and ranked fifth nationally in rebounding. Her 14 double-doubles ranked second nationally among freshmen. The Knights finished 10-20 overall and 3-13 in Conference USA.

A three-time all-state selection from Worth Count y High School, Lewis averaged 19 points and 17 rebounds her senior year.

"I always said she's going to be a steal," said Tim Hathcock, who coached Lewis in high school. "She runs the floor like a deer."

Hathcock said Louisville recruited Lewis heavily in high school, and she also received interest from Georgia and Oklahoma. Lewis considered transferring to Clemson and Florida State before choosing ODU.

Lewis will have to sit out the 2008-09 season because of NCAA transfer rules.
