VIRGINIA BEACH
A 20-year-old woman was ordered to serve 60 days in jail Monday for dragging two children a short distance under her car.
Ashley Wilson was convicted of reckless driving, marijuana possession and underage possession of alcohol. General District Judge Teresa McCrimmon suspended Wilson’s driving privileges for six months, ordered her to pay $300 fine and perform 50 hours of community service.
Wilson told an investigating officer that she was running late for a beauty school class on March 25 when she turned left onto Capital Hill Drive from her home on Kings Arms Drive. Wilson thought she struck toys left in the street, she said, and when she stopped, a brother and sister were under the Honda Civic.
The 5-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl were trying to get another child across the street to play with them when they were hit at the intersection. The siblings were hospitalized with broken bones and several internal injuries.
There was no evidence that Wilson was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.

Lack of punishment
This is part of the problem the Judges don't hand down punishment that fits the crime, and there is no incentive to stop committing crimes. For many it's all a joke, and gives them something to brag about. This woman should have gotten a year in jail and never drive again. She doesn't belong on the highway.
Can't be serious...
She hit and dragged 2 kids plus was in possession of narcotics and alchol and 60 days is all she gets! Mike Vick is currently serving time in a federal prison and this chick gets off. And you wonder why citizens have no faith in the law, this is utterly ridiculous, you could get more jail time hitting your own child with your hand than she has gotten for hitting these children with a multi ton machine. And then they give her her license back, are you serious! What do you expect from the state the supplied licenses to the 9-11 terrorist, I guess they don't learn from previous mistakes...she thought she hit a couple of toys, toys don't scream. Jesus please take the wheel!
Unaccepatble. .
Drugs and alcohol and a 20yo running over people? Multiple counts of bad behavior?? I hope she gets sued in a MAJOR way, and the judge should be removed from court. Perhaps O'rilley Factor could make this happen. The other interesting thing is where is her money coming from? Have you seen King's Arms? It's basically a slum.
Wow
Her license was suspended on 11/06/07 and she was driving on 3/25/08. I hope the family sues her. This is one case when an exception to and from work or school is not appropriate.
Too Leniant!
If I had done what this girl did, the judge would of had me buried under the jail.
Common sense
apparently this Judge doesn't have any. If those were my kids, I'be be dancing on the Judge's head.
Judges Out of Touch
Most judges are simply out of touch with the average person. They live in their ivory tower, many socializing with the criminal defense bar, and fail to recognize they've been given a serious duty to protect the public from criminals.
Correction
The reckless driving was amended to 48/25 Speeding in a school zone.
Accountability
This same person was found guilty on 7/12/07 of Reckless Driving 48 in a 25 in a School zone..had a private attorney and paid over 300.00 in fines. This same person was found guilty of Reckless Driving 90 in a 55 on 11/06/07...had a private attorney...paid over 1700.00 in fines...365 days in jail suspended...operators license suspended for six months. Now comes these charges upon all this and this same person gets off basically. Sounds like some under the table hanky panky going on the the Virginia Beach Courts. Documented history of reckless driving, even suspended and then dang near kills children...what does it take, two dead children? Someone has somebody with deep pockets and connections, this is quite obvious. Hope they can bail her out when she actually kills someone. Correction: she had a public defender not private attorney for the charges on 7/12/07 and 1/16/07.
If I'm ever in Trouble....................
I'd like to know who represented this woman in court. All I can say is that he must be a Top Notch Lawyer.
60 Days???
General District Judge Teresa McCrimmon should be serving the sentence for being so lenient. We can do without her kind. ...remember, Michael Vick received 2 years for dog-fighting.
if it was the judges kids
if it was the judges kids that lady would never get out of jail. we got some real stupid, insane, for judges.
I agree
This is crime was vastly understated by the judge. The thought of it being my children makes me vomit.
what a joke
WOW she got of easy!! She should lose her license and more time in jail!! No wonder Virginia has so many CRAPPY DRIVERS!! The judges just slap them on the wrist for driving like JERKS!!! I feel so bad for those two children!!!
