ELIZABETH CITY
Water customers in the city and Pasquotank County are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages throughout the system because of a water main break at the intersection of Rivershore and River roads, according to an advisory from the city.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation was in the process of replacing a concrete culvert in the area when they hit a 6-inch water main at about 2 p.m., said City Manager Rich Olson.
The affected area includes Edgewood Drive and Winslow Acres, according to the Public Utilities Department’s advisory.
Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for the introduction of bacteria into the water system, the advisory said. Water for human consumption should be boiled for one minute or customers should use bottled water until the system if fully repaired.
