NORFOLK

An elderly woman was taken to a hospital after her car hit a drug store at Wards Corner.

Dispatchers received the report of the car hitting the Rite Aid in the 7600 block of Granby St. about 9:30 a.m.

The woman apparently hit the gas instead of the brake outside the store, said Chris Amos, police spokesman. A vending machine and trash can were damaged, but there was no apparent damage to the building.

The woman, 86, suffered minor injuries in the accident, Amos said.

She was alone in the car, Amos said.

No other injuries were reported.
