At stake The top two teams advance to the Group AAA state quarterfinals.
Girls outlook Nobody is in Cox's class. Although the Falcons did not produce the Eastern Region's singles champion, the defending team champions have the most depth with Faith Atiso, Jenny Lee, Abbey Wexel, Madeline Hajek, Stelie Reid and Sally Goode. The Falcons are likely to meet the Patriots, led by Beach champion Alex Ritter. Cox defeated First Colonial 8-1 during the regular season.
Boys outlook Western Branch hasn't lost to an Eastern Region opponent in two years but faces a difficult road in defending its title. Heritage should challenge the Bruins in today's quarterfinal; Cox looms in a semifinal that will feature arguably the region's two strongest teams. Menchville has a slight edge in the other side of the bracket, although Great Bridge and First Colonial should challenge.
