Starting Saturday, Hampton Roads cities and the Outer Banks of North Carolina will honor their workers in the hospitality industry as well as travelers as part of National Tourism Week, which runs through May 18.
Here are some of the activities being sponsored by local tourism agencies:
Chesapeake
National Tourism Luncheon, noon May 13, Chesapeake Golf Club
Norfolk
Champions of Hospitality, 2 p.m. May 15, the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center
Portsmouth Hospitality Workers of the Year ceremony, 2 p.m. Monday at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum
Suffolk Suffolk Division of Tourism and Southwest Airlines' "Arts to Adventure" ticket giveaway, May 18, Suffolk Visitor Center
Virginia Beach National Tourism Week Luncheon and Hospitality Employee Awards, 11: 30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14, Westin Town Center
The Outer Banks
Family Fun Day at Wright Brothers National Memorial, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
All local bureaus
They will celebrate "Thank the Visitor Day" from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 16 at Norfolk International Airport
