hey,Va Beach can use it for a NALF, and the gun implacements

Can be used to fend off greedy developers, aircraft to strafe 'em, good training and preserve the fort. Win-Win!! Wait...we tried that at the Beach, think they used EPA or PETA against us?? No,we voted for change...No,.......good luck Hampton, You ARE On Your Own....Sorry,save you a seat on the TIDE.

Nice interactive, but out of date

Jan. 10, 2010 -- It's important to note that this interactive is out of date. It says that Gov. Kaine is expected to sign the reuse plan in August. He signed it in August 2008, as I recall. And when he did sign it, neither he nor any other member of his administration was especially interested in the national park idea. Things have changed a lot since then. Thanks. Steven T. Corneliussen, Citizens for a Fort Monroe National Park (CFMNP.org)

LOL...

so instead of making a fancy "interactive chart", why don't they just say: "we plan to do absolutely nothing with it when it closes. Sorry for wasting ur time."

but seriously, I want to know if Hampton will ever get with 20 century in city development. i've lived in Hampton for almost 20 years now and really, the only thing that has changed, is the loss of several businesses and that's sad u know.

Don't kid yourself...

It is in Hampton, no one goes to Hampton. That’s a fact. The only way to make Hampton desirable is to bull-doze it all down and start again.

$4 mil are you kidding

$4 mil to maintain a facility that is below the 100 yr flood plain? That facility needs craftsmen to keep up the maintenance, and they aren't cheep. It would be sad to see the fort fall apart because there were not enough funds to maintain it. Someone needs to recalculate those numbers.
