The investigation into the slaying of 16-year-old Portsmouth resident Meghan Landowski has led to an inquiry into alleged child pornography, a document filed Friday in Norfolk’s Circuit Court says.

A search warrant affidavit from a Naval Criminal Investigative Service agent says that authorities investigating her April 10 slaying had questioned a Navy man “considered a person of interest due to a prior NCIS investigation” involving him and Landowski. Agents obtained computers and electronic equipment from the man’s property, and an analysis turned up images of suspected child pornography, one involving a girl who appeared to be six to 10.

Navy spokeswoman Beth Baker said the man has not been charged with a crime. The Virginian-Pilot does not generally identify suspects who have not been charged.

Portsmouth Detective Jan Westerbeck said the slaying investigation continues. “He’s someone we talked to; he cooperated and that’s it,” she said. She also said, “The investigators are working hard every single day.”
