RICHMOND

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine is expected to call for a special session of the General Assembly to convene on June 23, according to legislators from Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia.

The lawmakers gathered today to try to develop a strategy for getting legislative approval of a transportation funding plan.

Kaine is also expected to announce next week, possibly Monday, his own proposal for addressing transportation funding.

Driving is a privilege....

Driving is a privilege.... not a right. That why you have to have a license. Some on the road should have their licenses revoked though.

Hey

Hey, get your act together. That's Kaine calling the General Assembly!

You can tax and pave .....

Taxing and paving will never cure the transportation issues until the driving public does their share to efficiently use the roads. The public stepping up to the plate and recognizing that they are a major part of the traffic congestion problem is a pipe dream. Therefore legislation is needed to outlaw the use of cell phones, hands free or not, while driving, to require that the skills needed to drive in congestion, through tunnels, and over bridges is taught in all drivers' ed programs, and then tested before licensing any new driver, and to fund public service announcments addressing the literally dozens of ways today's drivers could ease the traffic congestion by using a little common courtesy and a little common sense. Everyone sees being able to drive as a "right", but do not seem to understand that every "right" also includes a "responsibility".

Special session on transportation

Well, that's overdue. Now, how about some judicial appointments?
