NORFOLK
People heading south from the Norfolk Naval Station on Saturday should expect to use a detour if they travel on Hampton Boulevard.
City officials said Thursday that southbound lanes of Hampton Boulevard between D Avenue and North Gate Road will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. to allow crews to make repairs to railroad tracks crossing the road in that area.
Southbound traffic will be diverted into the northbound inside lane using the center median opening at D Avenue. Traffic will be diverted back into the southbound lane at North Gate Road. The lanes are expected to reopen for evening traffic.
Off-duty police officers will be on hand to assist with traffic control at the signalied intersection at North Gate Road.
