Synopsis
When high-powered book editor Margaret faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she's actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew, who she's tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own. The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family, and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another. With an impromptu wedding in the works and an immigration official on their tails, Margaret and Andrew reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite the precarious consequences.

I PROPOSE MORE REYNOLDS, LESS BULLOCK
I'm a Ryan Reynolds fan. He has a smart-alecky way about him that adds humor to almost any situation (see "Just Friends" and "Van Wilder" for proof). Unfortunately, in "The Proposal" he's given few opportunites to do what he does best. Bullock's character dominates the screen and she's not nearly as entertaining. It's the same old "Odd Couple Formula." Two opposites forced together to resolve some conflict. Eventually, the trials and tribulations bring them closer together and they become friends...or in some cases, such as this one, they become more than just friends (which is what this movie isn't - more than "Just Friends"). Still, at it's worst, "The Proposal" is a great compromise for any couple looking for a movie that will leave both parties satisfied. It's the middle-ground between Monday Night Football and a "Golden Girls" marathon on Lifetime. Faced with the latter option, no guy will turn down a proposal for a movie night out.
Very good movie
My Wife dragged me to see this movie and once it started it keep me interested. This movie has romance and comedy in it. This movie is a movie even the guys will like.
Ok guys hurry up before its over with.
Never Believe Mel Vincent's Ratings
Everytime it seems that Mel rates a movie as not that good we go see it and most if not al of the time I rate him as incorrect. My wife and I went to see this one and laughed the whole time. Great comedy and actually a good story line...so we rate it as a "Must See" for total enjoyment.
...Larry...
Totally by-the-numbers.
Totally by-the-numbers. Bullock isn't even trying anymore.
Sandra did it again
Took my husband to the show opening day. (I won the coin toss) He thought he would be sleeping in the corner within a few minutes of the movie starting, however, we both were laughing throughout the show. Sandra did it again. I love her movies. Ryan did a great job as well. Very good pairing. Betty White was halarious too. I would definately pay to see this movie again and purchase the dvd when it comes out. It's a must see.
