Armed suspects rob armored truck outside bank in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE

Police are investigating an armed robbery of an armored truck this morning outside a bank on Greenbrier Parkway. 

No injuries were reported, but witnesses told police that shots were fired during the robbery about 9 a.m., said Gus Mojica, police spokesman. Police who investigated the report said that they didn't believe any shots were fired. 

Witnesses said that the two suspects were wearing masks, hats and sunglasses when they robbed the armored truck outside the Bank of America in the 1800 block of Greenbrier Parkway, said Justin Tindall, a police spokesman.

One of the suspects was armed with a long gun and police were trying to identify the weapon, Mojica said. 

The suspects were seen leaving the robbery scene in dark sport utility vehicle that witnesses believed was a Chevrolet Suburban that could have been gray and tan or black and tan, Mojica said.
