CHESAPEAKE

The weather may be the real star today, serving up perfect festival conditions for the third day of the annual Chesapeake Jubilee.

But for many of the thousands flocking today to Chesapeake City Park, attention is diverted by scores of activities and rides and a smorgasbord of tasty temptations. Not to mention fireworks tonight and numerous performances on the Jubilee stages.

The Jubilee's pyrotechnics are slated to be served up at 9 p.m. by world-renowned Zambelli Fireworks Internationale.

After that visual show, it will be time for a treat for the ears.

The Gin Blossoms, popular alternative rockers from Arizona known for such hits as Found Out About You, Follow You Down, and Allison Road, perform at 9:30 tonight.

On Sunday, country music star Julie Roberts performs, bringing her deep, blues-soaked singing style to the stage at 4 p.m. She will be followed at 5:30 p.m. by Phil Vassar.

A fast-rising star and Virginia native, Vassar is called the hardest working man in country music, will close out the Jubilee with hits such as Last Day of My Life, Love is a Beautiful Thing, My Next 30 Years and many others.

For thrill seekers, Amusements of America is providing the fun. It features the largest array of traveling carnival rides and games east of the Mississippi.
