VDOT to hear public comments on I-264 Lynnhaven project

Posted to: News Transportation and Traffic Virginia Beach

Transportation officials will listen to public comments on the location and design of the Interstate 264 Lynnhaven Parkway interchange project tomorrow evening in Virginia Beach.

The meeting, from 4 to 7 p.m., will be held at Plaza Middle School, 3080 S. Lynnhaven Road, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation news release.

Comments will be taken on the first part of the project, which is the design and construction of a ramp from I-264 to London Bridge Road and a ramp from the road onto the interstate, the release says.

VDOT plans to advertise for the construction of the $22 million project by mid-2010, the release says.

The second part of the project, improvements to the I-264 interchange with Lynnhaven Parkway, hasn’t been scheduled because of insufficient funds, the release says.

Written and verbal comments will be taken tomorrow night, according to the release. The public also can send written comments that will be included in the public hearing transcript. Send written comments within 10 calendar days of the meeting to Adam J. Jack, P.E., Virginia Department of Transportation, Hampton Roads District, 1700 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va., 23434.

2023

That's wishful thinking.

About time...

This is good news for those who live and work down there...BUT don't get too excited, this is VDOT after all...

Construction will start in 2010...and not be done till about 2023!

I know I know.... We really

I know I know.... We really need a Great Neck exit. That will reduce traffic at both Lynnhaven and First Colonial.

London Bridge interchange overdue!

Glad to see it may be built before I retire. Just try to get to the interstate from southern VB in the am - if one takes Lynnhaven there is traffic. If one takes London Bridge to Potters to Lynnhaven there is traffic. When does it end?
