Video voter guide: Chesapeake and Portsmouth mayoral candidates

Portsmouth Election Time

Think real hard at the horrible job that our council members and mayor has done - and vote for higher property taxes and their attitude that you and I are just stupid enough to put up with this - between paying on loans where projects don't exist, city officials that are taking advantage of the city with their positions - N-tellos - round abouts - and so much more - we need to make some changes - and NOW is the time for new blood - it certainly couldn't be any worse!

snnative, you could not be more wrong!

That is not leadership! That is weakness. She should have stood up for what she believed in regardless of the previous votes. If she truly opposed HRTA, she should have voted as such and made a stand. If the ship began to sink, a strong captain would have gone down with the ship. That, my friend, is leadership! You never know here Adams stands. She says she opposes HRTA, but then votes in favor. She calls herself an independent, but the majority of her votes are in lock step with the Democrats. Go figure.

Reminds me of an old saying...

I read in the Pilot that the "good" Senator L. Louise Lucas contributed $10,000 to the Whitehurst for City Council campaign. Reminds me of a saying used by my mother-in-law: "Too much sugar for a dime!"

Vote out all incumbents

We must take control of our cities back from the corrupt over spending fools in Government. The first step is to vote out incumbents. What replaces them could be better, the same or even worse. However this will be the fist step in persuading future good candidates to take a chance and run. No incumbent should be reelected period. If your don't do it you should go down to the store and buy yourself a pair of shackles and put them on because you have become a slave. You are just working for a pay check instead of room and board.

Critical Differance

Mr. Tabor misstates the differance, by the time Chesapeake voted on the HRTA issue it had already received enought votes from the other cities to pass and the only question for Chesapeake was would Chesapeake have a voice in where the money would be spent. Krasnoff decided he did not want a voice in where our tax dollars would be spent and Adams, even though she opposed the idea, felt it was best for Chesapeake to have a voice in the issue. That's called leadership.

Critical Difference on transportation

When the time for council to vote on the unconstitutional HRTA plan, both Adams and Krasnoff said it was a bad plan and bad for Chesapeake.

The critical difference is that Dr. Krasnoff stood by his principles and voted against joining, while Adams bent to pressure from our General Assembly delegation and special interests and voted for joining anyway.
