VIRGINIA BEACH
A police officer ran down an armed robber Tuesday night after the man robbed and shot at a couple in a car.
The incident happened at 10:51 p.m. in the 1100 block of Rivera Drive, police said. Two people were getting out of a car when a man approached, pointed a gun at them and demanded money, police said. The robber fired a shot into the car, which hit the floor and did not injure the victims, then stole a purse and ran away.
Responding officer Jonathan Midgett saw the man running away and chased him down. Police recovered the purse and found a gun nearby behind a house on Beechwalk Drive.
Patrick L. Goff, 38, of the 5800 block of Beechwalk Drive, is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of attempted malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possesion of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.

Old Fashioned Good Police Work
Good collar. This policeman deserves an award.
These type of muggers need to start encountering a few CCW citizens, too.
