VIRGINIA BEACH
Police arrested a 13-year-old student at Kempsville Middle School Thursday for making threats on the Internet.
Police said that, during an instant-messaging conversation Thursday night, the student threatened to bring a gun and knife to school. The student he was messaging reported the threat, and school officials called police.
The 13-year-old male student was arrested Thursday night at his home. He is charged with one count of electronically communicating a threat to commit serious bodily harm on school property. He faces disciplinary action from the school.
The case remains under investigation.

Clearly you have never met this kid in your life. I have the one and only note he wrote while in Juvy describing it and it is aweful. He said he is an idiot for going what he did and he would do anything to take back the last 4 days.
HMMMM...
I have an idea; instead of just arresting the teen, why not arrest the parent(s) too. Ultimately they are responsible for their upbringing and ethical behavior. They are just as guilty as the child...
What is the name -
I know the law does not allow the names of a minor to be published or even released. I think though, if names were published, others might realize that criminal actions really do have consequences. He will be disciplined by the school. An adult would be charged with a felony - so should the student - no matter the age. Through the student in front of a judge and see what happens both as a trial outcome and the life experience the student learns.
Again?
It seems like, every single week, you have a teenager either making threats or bringing a weapon to school. Then again, I'm guessing kids and teens don't really watch the news regularly enough to know just how seriously the police take threats and weapons in school, esp. in a Post-Columbine and Post-9/11 world...
Middle school teenager trouble
It is about time that these kids started realizing that there is always a consequence for their actions. Kudos for the kid that told his parents. We have got to communicate with our kids so that they know right from wrong, get involved in their lives and know what is going on with them. Let's hope and pray that this kid gets the right guidance that he needs so that he can mend his ways and get on the straight and narrow.
When.....
Will these kids learn that making threats, whether verbal, on paper or by internet or via electronic devices, will not be tolerated. It appears that alot of kids are bored and are seeking attention as though it's a game.I've read about teens vandalizing vehicles and smashing mailboxes to pass time. What they fail to relize is that time will pass as they sit in a correctional facility next to a convicted murderer. No we can't always blame parents because it boils down to chooses.
