Maybe YOU should reconsider before jumping to conlcusions. It takes years and years to convict a person and give them the death penalty, even though they are already guilty beyond a doubt. Every single person given the death penalty is guilty beyond ANY doubt. Our justice system may not be perfect but the death penalty is one thing that they do not leave any second guesses about. You obviously think that you know more than you do about this matter and you are basing your comment completely on opinion and not fact. Many people who should be given the death penalty who have killed multiple people and don't deserve to live are given life imprisonment. Why? They obviously do not know the value of a human life so why should they be allowed to keep theirs? Instead they are allowed to sit in their cells and watch tv while our tax dollars are paying to keep them alive. They should use the death penalty more often.
death penalty
I wonder why some of you take the time to comment on this subject given the glib attitude expressed. If you really thought about the death penalty from a social perspective you would find that it does nothing to prevent the kinds of crimes that it purports to deter. Capital punishment should be assessed from a societal standpoint and not the individual cases as listed on this website. I wouldn't be surprised if any one the condemned were innocent given the number of falsely convicted criminals in the system now and in the past. DNA testing has exonerated so many that you have to really take pause before so easily siding with the punishment. Our judicial system is pretty much based on how much money you have and I'm sure all of the condemned had a court appointed attorney who did nothing for them. You need to give it more thought before being so certain about your position on the matter.

before being so certain about your position on the matter. The indigent defendant facing the death penalty (almost all) is getting better counsel than those retaining attorneys. The attorneys that are eventually appointed are prominent, experienced and dedicated...that’s why the Chief Judge appoints them!
court appointed
Pursuant to §19.2-163.8(E) of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, the Supreme Court and the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission, in conjunction with the Virginia State Bar, hereby set forth the following standards required for appointment of counsel in capital cases. When Circuit Courts, pursuant to §19.2-163.7 of the Virginia Code, appoint counsel for an indigent defendant charged with a capital offense or under sentence of death, it is strongly urged that such Court appoint two (2) attorneys for trial, appellate, and habeas proceedings. Accordingly, these standards often refer to "lead counsel" and "co-counsel". Since the General District Court or Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court often will make the initial appointment(s), such Court should consult with the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court with regard to appropriate appointments. If a Public Defender is appointed and is either "lead" or "co-counsel", the other attorney should be appointed from the private bar. If counsel is retained, it is recommended that the Circuit Court make known to the defendant and/or counsel, the standards required for capital defense counsel....YOU need to give it more thought befo
You Missed the point
Capital punishment sure cuts down on repeat offenders. If it does nothing else, I'm happy with that alone. There are those who would consider permanent imprisonment to be cruel and inhumane. I say we should provide suicide booths so they may end their imprisonment whenever they want. I have enough trouble feeding, clothing and sheltering my own family. Why should I have to pay to warehouse these people? Why should anyone?
How about a search list for the victims?
That is what online resources should go to, NOT the sub-humans who committed murder!
neither rejoice nor cry
I don’t celebrate the death of criminals, nor do I cry for them. The death penalty is the only way I know of to insure that they will NEVER kill again. If we were to go back to stoning as a method for the death penalty, I would pick up my rock out of duty to the community but it would not be for joy or spite. The law is as it is to protect the rest of us from the lawless few.
awh i feel bad
not really, just remember this person took the life of a 77 years old man, what about his rights, instead of feeling remorse for the idiot who took his life,oh let me guess, rehabilitate, him not on my tax dollar.fact remains.most criminals wont be rehabilitated,so an eye for eye, thats how i see it.unless you bleeding heart type would feel to take in these individuals into your home for some rehab.yea lets see how long that would last,or even happen, but as most liberal thinkers do.they'll let the govt. or someone else worry about the problem.and not be a part of the soulution.my solution, clear out death row,
98 - 99 - 100...
Hmmmm,
Stoning is good! How many stones for a dollar?
I'll take three stones please.
Stones are ok
But there's something so elegant about a guillotine. It's energy efficient, reusable, works with gravity and with a nice sharp blade it slices and dices rather quickly with no chance of reviving the criminal. In France "the guillotine was thus perceived to deliver an immediate death without risk of suffocation. Furthermore, having only one method of execution was seen as an expression of equality among citizens. The guillotine was then the only legal execution method in France until the abolition of the death penalty in 1981[10], apart from certain crimes against the security of the state, which entailed execution by firing squad.".
i agree with 2 cents
This was the death of another human being and people act as if it's a ball game or something. Sure, what he did was deplorable and he absolutely deserved punishment, but the death sentence isn't the right way. Maybe I'm in the minority in my belief, but no man should have the right to kill another. To start calling for more is repulsive.
They are not human
Killing these criminals is on par with putting down a rabid dog. Can't live with them, can't expel them, why warehouse them? They have no regard for killing you. They'd do it without blinking twice. If they can't play nice in society, killing them is the kindest way to deal with them. Or are you proposing a penal colony on the moon?
Civilized
Your still puting this man to death out of hatred and anger. There is nothing civilized about this. Why not just stone him to death or is that worse than other ways? How do you sleep at night. Thats not very christian.
I sleep very well at night
I sleep very well at night secure in the knowledge that my family is no longer targeted in his rifle sights. You are darn right I'm angry. Why don't you have a stranger point a gun at your head repeatedly day after day (even if it's just a toy squirt gun) and see how well you sleep.
Next
Who's up next? Lets clear out death row and make room for more! I dont understand how anyone can be against capital punishment. These scum bags need to go.
Eye for an eye.
100 is a good start, let's get this ball rolling.
It was just...
putting another rabid animal to sleep. Nothing more.
I thought I saw my lights flicker last night
Now I know why!
