Firefighters launched a boat and were on their way to rescue a man in an inner tube who was under the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.

Dispatchers received the call about the man about 2 p.m. and the fire department launched a boat to rescue the man, Jack Goldhorn, Norfolk Fire-Rescue spokesman, confirmed.

The man was under the northbound side of the bridge and had floated too far from shore to get back on his own, Goldhorn said.
