Landstown running back Sterlin Phifer, a 1,000-yard rusher the past two seasons, has committed to play at Boston College.

Phifer, 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, rushed for 1,281 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior. He drew recruiting interest from a host of Division I programs and rivals.com ranked him the 59th-best running back in the Class of 2009.

“I’m so excited for him because this year we’re going to do all the things with him to make him prepared for that level,” said Tommy Reamon, who is taking over as Landstown’s coach this season.
