Brinson Paolini, the reigning Virginia State Junior golf champion and the 2006 Group AAA state high school champion, has committed to sign with Duke.

Paolini, who led Cox to state titles in his sophomore and junior seasons, selected the Blue Devils over Virginia, Stanford, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech.

“I’ve always been a Duke fan, even when I was a little kid and going there has always kind of been my dream,” Paolini said. “But their new coach sealed the deal.”

O.D. Vincent, who had led UCLA to a pair of Pac-10 titles and four top-10 finishes in the NCAAs over a five-year span, took over the Duke program last fall. Vincent was national coach of the year in 1999.

Paolini will sign with the Blue Devils in November.

“I was fortunate to have a lot of great academic schools interested,” Paolini said, “but Duke was just the place for me.”
