Hampton police identify man found dead inside trailer after fire

HAMPTON

Police have released the identity of a man found dead inside a storage trailer after a fire behind a JCPenney store Sunday.

Fire investigators found the body after a fire burned the trailer and part of the business in the 2000 block of Coliseum Drive.

On Wednesday police identified the man as 21-year-old Patrick Michael Rowley of Montana. According to police Rowley went into the trailer and accidentally set the fire, which killed him.

Rowley was an active duty soldier based at Fort Lee near Petersburg as part of the 48th Quarter Master Company. According to a spokesman for Fort Lee Rowley joined the Army in January of 2007, worked as a petroleum specialist and earned the National Defense Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Global War on Terror Service Medal.
