INTERACTIVE GRAPHIC: The Tunguska mystery

On the morning of June 30, 1908, a fireball exploded about six miles above Siberia near the Tunguska River, flattening and burning 770 square miles of forest. The explosion created a shockwave that circled the Earth twice, and for two days, there was so much dust reflecting light in the atmosphere that newspapers could be read at night 6,000 miles away in the streets of London.
