Old Dominion University doesn’t play its first I-AA football game until the fall of 2009, but there’s plenty going on between now and then. Virginian-Pilot reporter Rich Radford will be covering the Monarchs’ road back to Foreman Field.

This just in ...

Appalachian State, after three Division I-AA national titles and a eye-popping win over Michigan last season, announced this week that its season ticket sales have surpassed 10,000 for the upcoming season.

In a totally unrelated development -- since Old Dominion University hasn't played a game, let alone win three national championships or beaten Michigan -- the Monarchs have ho-hummed their recent surpassing of the 10,000-mark in season tickets.

Seriously folks, it was so expected that nobody said anything when it happened.

That's right, ODU is still 15 months away from its first kickoff and half the stadium is already a guarantee fill.

learning from asu

let's all of us hope the odu faithful learn one thing from asu, and that is not to be as obnoxious as those hillbilly's from boone. go odu!

I am sure that you are proud

I am sure that you are proud of your new football team, but make sure that you put out a big, shiny article when you lead the division in attendance. Pack nearly 30k in that place every week (as ASU did during the regular season last year) and then you can toot your horn. It would do you and ODU some good to pay attention to how ASU does things.

Seats still available

I have a few roof top seats left on two story house on Melrose Parkway, with off-street parking ($20 per vehicle). About to reach a load limit. Must bring own chairs and keg.
