PORTSMOUTH
The city is scheduled to swear in the mayor and council members tonight for new terms.
Incumbents Mayor James W. Holley and council members Elizabeth Psimas and Steve Heretick will take part in an oath of office ceremony at 6 p.m., according to an advertisement from Portsmouth City Clerk Debra White’s office.
Councilman-elect Charles B. Whitehurst is also scheduled to be sworn in tonight in the City Council chamber at 801 Crawford Street.
On Monday, the new council plans to select a member to serve as vice mayor.
