VIRGINIA BEACH
A nine-car crash on Interstate 264 overnight won’t slow down this morning’s commute, state police dispatchers said.
The pileup on the westbound side of the interstate, just east of Independence Boulevard, shut down the entire road just after midnight but no one suffered major injuries, said Sgt. Michelle Cotten, state police spokeswoman.
Two people had minor injuries, Cotten said.
The road was shut down until some of the cars could be towed away and the mess cleaned up.
The road was completely reopened shortly after 2 a.m., dispatchers said.

Sorry to say....
But a hail storm, or any type of storm for that matter does not "cause" an accident. Accidents are cause by inattentive drivers, excessive speed, and not slowing down for conditions. Wonder how many of them were yacking on the cell phone?
HAIL!
I would say this was caused by the hail storm that occurred last night just before midnight. Speed may have been a factor for some, but IMHO, one or two cars probably slowed down due to the hail and the others weren't expecting that.
Gee, that's right when that
Gee, that's right when that thunderstorm started to roll through the area last night. One or two of them probably got tangled up first then the others came up on the original accident too fast.
They must have been in a
They must have been in a hurry but were late afterall.
9-car crash???
Ok, 9 car crashes on same spot is only going to happen if they are racing, following too closely or don't know how to drive. Same type of drivers are responsible for all tunnel backups.
