OBX employee, Gateway bank honored

DARE COUNTY

The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce has named Phyllis Neal of OBX Bank as this month's Individual Ambassador of the Month.

She is assistant vice president and retail office manager of OBX Bank's new Kitty Hawk office.

Team Ambassador of the Month has been awarded to Gateway Bank.

The team welcomes new members, attends ribbon-cuttings, refers new members and ambassadors to the program and attends and greets at the After Hours Events.

Tanger outlet to collect troop mail

Tanger Factory Outlet Center in Nags Head will hold its second annual Salute the Troops campaign.

Visitors can drop off cards and letters for the troops at the Tanger Customer Service Center June 30 to July 6. Shoppers can write their sentiments on one of the free thank-you cards available at Tanger. Children can share their support for the troops by adding on a special Salute the Troops coloring sheet.

The cards and letters are being collected nationally by Tanger Outlet Center and shipped to U.S. military bases around the world by Tanger's national partner, the Armed Forces Foundation.

Tanger is making a $25,000 donation to the Armed Forces Foundation.

Business sets fundraiser

The second annual national flip-flop day will be held beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the three Outer Banks locations of Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

Money is being raised to send terminally ill children to Camp Sunshine in Maine. Customers can contribute by purchasing paper flip-flops for $1. The first 500 customers wearing flip-flops on Saturday will receive a free Jetty Punch smoothie.

 

 

PASQUOTANK COUNTY

Red cross receives $5,000 grant

The Albemarle Community Trust Board of Directors has approved a $5,000 grant to the American Red Cross.

The grant will be used to help families in the Albemarle region who have suffered losses from natural disasters or fires and provide temporary shelter or purchase clothing.
