Police investigate attempted abduction at Pembroke Mall

Police are investigating an attempted abduction at Pembroke Mall on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 3 p.m. in a men’s room near the Kohl’s department store. A 9-year-old boy told police that a man put a hand on his shoulder and said, “Come with me,” said Rene Ball, a police spokeswoman. The boy ran away and got his mother, but when the pair returned to the bathroom, the man was gone, Ball said.

Police canvassed the mall and the surrounding area, but found nothing. Investigators plan to review surveillance cameras at the mall.

The suspect is described as a tan-skinned male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 32 to 38 years old with a beard. He was wearing a black shirt, white or khaki shorts and a knit cap, Ball said.
