Police seized thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit shoes and clothing and charged a man with copyright infringement Thursday, according to spokeswoman Lt. Debbie George.
According to George police began investigating a store called Official Street Gear in the 400 block of W. Washington Street after complaints about counterfeit merchandise.
On Thursday police oversaw a purchase and, after confirming with experts that the merchandise was fake, seized 260 pairs of shoes and other clothing worth more than $33,000, George said.
Police have charged Corey J. Hayes, 36, of the 2400 block of Middle Ave. in Norfolk with copyright infringement.
