In the last couple of months, more and more of my friends have mentioned Postsecret.com, a Web site that requires participants to write down their innermost thoughts on artsy postcards and send them anonymously to an author in Germantown, Md., named Frank Warren. The cards are scanned and posted online.

Postsecret has become a way for people to share “anything – as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before.” Warren established the site and published four books based on the material. The site has become immensely popular. It’s been viewed more than 150 million times, for what that statistic is worth.

I’ve compiled my favorite “secrets” about Hampton Roads, but I don’t need to be anonymous. And while most of the most popular secrets online are about “regret, fear, betrayal, desire, confession or childhood humiliation,” mine are not.

Very cute!

I liked the regional "inside jokes," Mike. No Oceanfront tourist who bought the paper today would've understood that article, but it made me smile knowingly. Cheers, Mary G. Martin

Ouch! That was bad

Mike,
You ned to get out of town more man. I thought we were talking real confessions. I felt like I was at a hallmark card store.
Bad, really bad

re: I've seen some ridiculous articles in this newspaper

I'm not knocking it; it'll make great kindling for my chimney starter...

I've seen some ridiculous articles in this newspaper . . .

but I think this one takes the cake. The editor must have needed some serious filler for the paper to come up with this idea. SHEEESH!

As long as it's true

Um yea, and how does he determine what is true. Probably a solid majority are total fiction. People love to make stuff up.

Hmmm

Reminds me of the Seether video for "Fine Again." There is a website full of anonymous confessions that is pretty freaky.
