Woman from S.C. named latest news director at WTKR

Posted to: Business Norfolk

WTKR NewsChannel 3, shaken by a series of high-level departures, has hired a new news director, general manager Jeff Hoffman said.

Tina Luque Blacklocke will begin work at the CBS affiliate on July 8, he said. She has been news director at the NBC affiliate in Columbia, S.C., for the past five years.

She replaces Shane Moreland, who left last week. Other recent departures include anchor Les Smith, assistant news director Melissa Klinzing and assignment manager David Craft.

I welcome the new news director

I welcome you to Hampton Roads with one strong suggestion: KEEP YOUR BAGS PACKED! There's a good chance you'll be heading down the road like many of your predecessors . . .

NEW News

The article reads like a bad headline, "GM Hires New News Director."
The GM is trying to protect his "Butt" from the mistakes he has made.
WTKR-TV has turned into a "Revolving Door" showing no concern for staffing.
Stay tuned for more of "The Channel 3 Follies."

Left or Fired?

This story implies that the departures last week were voluntary. Last weeks news implied all were terminated by the new GM except Smith. Whats the true story?

new news?

hmmmm, perhaps a new thesaurus would do? also, doesn't the word hire imply "new"?
