PORTSMOUTH

Eleven houses in Cradock are scheduled to get some sprucing up soon.

About 200 young volunteers and their adult leaders from World Changers are arriving in Cradock on Saturday, said Rob Edwards, pastor of Cradock Baptist Church.

They will be replacing windows, repairing roofs and constructing a handicapped ramp, Edwards said.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday.

The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is contributing $25,000 in federal funds for materials, Edwards said.

The agency has focused on revitalization efforts in Cradock.

Edwards said the labor the volunteers will donate is estimated at as much as $175,000.
