SUFFOLK

Three men charged with looting a damaged home after the tornado that struck the city in late April were convicted in General District Court this week.

David James Kew Jr. and Oscar F. Pena were convicted Monday of petty larceny and trespassing. In addition, Kew was found guilty of possessing a concealed weapon while drinking.

On Tuesday, Kenneth R. Dennis was also found guilty of larceny and trespassing. All three, who are in the Navy and stationed aboard the USS Wasp, were also charged with crossing police barricades.

The men each were sentenced to 30 days in jail, all suspended. They must pay a $750 fine and serve 50 hours of community service. Kew, who had the gun, had his permit for the weapon revoked and was fined an additional $250.
