A woman was killed in a two-car accident on Route 611 early this morning, a Virginia State Police spokeswoman said.

Eugenia Bowman Depriest, 51, was traveling east on Route 611, about one mile west of Route 1007, around 12:17 a.m. when her 1997 Toyota Avalon veered into oncoming traffic, said spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Cotten. She struck a 1998 Dodge Durango.

Depriest, of the 5000 block of Dry Bread Road in Emporia, was not wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene, Cotten said.

The driver and the passenger of the Durango were transported to Southern Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, Cotten said. Both were wearing their seatbelts, she said.
