Assateague Lighthouse

Mon. - Sun. 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  June through September.  Open weekends April through November.

Price:
$5 adults; $3 children; free under 2 years old. Children ages 2-12 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Located on Assateague Island, it was built in 1833 and then rebuilt in 1866. The tower stands 145 feet tall and still operates today, warning ships of treacherous shoals that lie off the barrier islands. It is owned and operated by the U.S. Coast Guard and open for inside tours during the summer.
