Batman movie scores with local fans

The new Batman movie has generated tremendous hype. Will it deliver what people have come to expect from the franchise - cool costumes and gadgets, explosive special FX?

Beyond that, critics have gushed about Heath Ledger's startling performance as The Joker in "The Dark Knight." Many people couldn't wait for today's official release and got a sneak peek Wednesday at MacArthur Center in Norfolk. Here's what some of them thought:

Rick Valentine, 25, Virginia Beach: "I thought it was excellent."

Dave Neidhart, 34, Chicago: "It was awesome."

Nikki Fanning, 33, Chesapeake: "It was very good - lots of action. The Joker was my favorite part of it."

Zach Martin, 16, Virginia Beach: "I loved it, especially the action and the effects."
