Blaming wrong traitor

Re 'Republican remorse,' letter, July 22: The writer is under the impression that Karl Rove 'became a traitor to our nation when he exposed a CIA agent for political gain.'

The only problem is, it's not true. The identity of Valerie Plame, the CIA operative and vocal opponent of the president for whom she worked, was exposed by Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, by all accounts no friend of Rove.

This is not in dispute, and has been confirmed by columnist Bob Novak as well as Armitage himself.

blah blah blah

It doesn't matter which party is in control of the Congress/Senate, or is in the White House.

Hatred for each party plays into political pandering and is being over-fed by the media outlets. ALL outlets.

All I've read below is one reply or another regarding the D's & R's that are still inflicting America. One reads below Neocon, incompetent, ad naseum....crap people! When was the last time you called/emailed/wrote your U.S. Rep/Senator? When was the last time you went to a city council meeting? Turn the HiDef...cable/satellite's "portal to paradise" off and get personally involved!

It's time for Americans to get elected and to blazes with party politics.

A den of Crooks

Sure Rove had nothing to do with with this, yea right. Stephan Hadley, who came fourth with the yellow cake nonsense, offered his resignation to Bush for this fiasco, so what does Dubya do? Turns it down and promotes this Neocon to National Security Advisor. Condi Rice was asleep at her post during 9/11, and gets promoted to Security of State. God help us!

"cannot take seriously"

Incompetent Bush did not take the threat of terrorism seriously as he ignored it until 9-11.

Playing the blame game: JamesK

'I think it is silly to believe that Valerie Plame and her husband were doing anything but having fun traveling on the people's dime. If Plame was actually an agent or operative of the CIA you would have never heard a word about the whole thing.' If it was that way James, there wouldn't have been any big stink raised about it.

'The Clinton adminisration was just a bunch of people having fun and playing games for eight years and that is also indisputable. I cannot take seriously anybody associated with the Clintons.' There are a lot of us who are wishing we didn't have to take the Bush adminstration seriously either!

Everyone wants to play the blame game but no one wants to take responsibility. Sounds like politics as usual to me.

TR...

You know giving facts to Bush believers is a lost cause. Everything is Clinton's fault and nothing is done wrong by Bush. Here is the funny thing about the Plame issue: Wilson as proven right in his findings about the false yellow-cake claim, and Bush was proven wrong. That is historical fact, yet somehow some people still want to cast dispersions at Plame and Wilson. I think it boils down to this: if a Bush supporter has to admit Plame was covert and had her contacts exposed and that it caused not only harm to her career but to her oversees contacts, they would have to admit Bush and his staff involved are traitors of the highest form. So we will never get an admission of any wrongdoing from them. Case closed.

Jamesk - Its hard to take you seriously

From the indictment:

f. Joseph Wilson was married to Valerie Plame Wilson (“Valerie Wilson”). At all relevant times from January 1, 2002 through July 2003, Valerie Wilson was employed by the CIA, and her employment status was classified. Prior to July 14, 2003, Valerie Wilson’s affiliation with the CIA was not common knowledge outside the intelligence community.

From the DOJ prosecutor:

An unclassified summary of outed CIA officer Valerie Plame's employment history at the spy agency, disclosed for the first time today in a court filing by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, indicates that Plame was "covert" when her name became public in July 2003. . . .

The unclassified summary of Plame's employment with the CIA at the time that syndicated columnist Robert Novak published her name on July 14, 2003 says, "Ms. Wilson was a covert CIA employee for who the CIA was t

CIA?

I think it is silly to believe that Valerie Plame and her husband were doing anything but having fun traveling on the people's dime. If Plame was actually an agent or operative of the CIA you would have never heard a word about the whole thing. The Clinton adminisration was just a bunch of people having fun and playing games for eight years and that is also indisputable. I cannot take seriously anybody associated with the Clintons.

Ned - you are incorrect

Reporter Matt Cooper testified: "Was it through my conversation with Rove that I learned for the 1st time that Wilson's wife worked at the CIA & may have been responsible for sending him? Yes. Did Rove say that she worked at the agency on WMD? Yes.

HitAndRun Columnist Novak: asking Rove about Wilson's trip, "I commented that I heard she was a -- I had been told she was an employee of the counterproliferation division of the CIA. He said, " 'Oh, you know about that, too.' I took that as a clear affirmation."

Trial evidence includes the Wilson oped that Cheney had cut out & had written 5 talking points on. One of which was Wilson's wife. 4 of the talking points make it into admin statements. Libby leaks 'wife' info to NYT's Judy Miller.
