Semi-private. This golf facility offers three 9-hole courses that are played in three 18-hole combinations, and a separate 18-hole pitch-n-putt course. The layout is very similar to a Scottish-links course. Course features no trees, but is long, challenging and fair.

This course reminds me of I-64: it's been under construction forever! Between the construction, the inaccurate or missing tee signs, and the cheap placards directing you to certain holes, the course just doesn't offer the special something that you'd expect for the price you pay. It's usually in good condition, but the surroundings--whether it's the bulldozers, huge empty areas filled with mud, or the encroaching houses on the back nine--keep Cahoon from being a 5-star course.

The course at Cahoon Plantation is not only the best kept secret in the hampton Roads area but is also the most well kept facility in all of the South Hampton roads. Condo development is complete with the last pahse going in the middle of the course which will not affect any holes on the course. The rates described are wrong, it is $59 to $79 Monday thru Sunday, and rates very with times and specials for Military/Public Saftey/and Seniors are available. Nine holes range from $30-$35. There is a drving range which is not opened to the public only for daily fee guests and members. The Eagle Pointe project is now a full golfing community. Overall a great golf course!!

Uneven lies make this a pretty trick course. Even though they were wet and soft, the greens were speedy. We played the day after a big rain, and the drainage was pretty good. Even most of the sand traps were nice and fluffy. The course used to be beautiful, but the construction has ruined it. Too bad they got rid of their par-3 course to clutter with more houses. Cahoon's web site still advertises 3 9-hole courses, but it's only 18 holes total.

Great course but this review isn't close to reflecting course conditions. Not 27 holes but 18. No driving range for public. Rates posted are not accurate. Can only book tee reservations 1 week in advance. Geese droppings have all but ruined 3-4 holes. In the past 2 years, this course has gone from a 5 star to a 3 star and appears to be still in decline. However, with all this being said, it is still the BEST conditioned course in Virginia!

The course is in great shape-the bent grass is a pleasure to play on, BUT the construction is a mess and it's a shame that money, housing and condo development takes precendence over golf and the beauty of the area!
