Construction worker accused of assaulting colleague with hammer

VIRGINIA BEACH

A worker at a Virginia Beach construction site was hospitalized today with a head injury after a co-worker assaulted him with a hammer, police said.

William B. Sleasman, 29, of Virginia Beach, was arrested and charged with felonious assault in connection with the attack, said Margie Long, a police spokeswoman.

Sleasman is suspected of striking his coworker in the head with the hammer about 9 a.m.. in the 1800 block of Beauty Way, in the Heritage Park area near Sandbridge Road. It wasn’t clear what provoked the assault.

Sleasman turned himself in to police, Long said. The condition of the victim wasn’t available, but he was breathing and conscious after the incident, Long said.
