Death aboard carrier Theodore Roosevelt ruled a suicide

NORFOLK

A sailor who was fatally shot on board the carrier Theodore Roosevelt on Tuesday night died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Navy announced this morning.

The sailor, whose name was not released, was a petty officer 3rd class assigned to the ship’s auxiliary security force and was on duty at the time. Security forces are routinely armed while on duty.
