A former band director for Currituck County High School was sentenced to at least a year in prison Monday after pleading guilty to six counts of indecent liberties with a student.
Allan Matthew Coyle, 33, was sentenced to 6 to 8 months in prison for each of two counts and given three years of supervised probation for the other four charges, said Debbie Basnight, assistant clerk of superior court over criminal offenses.
Coyle was charged in January after the parents of the 17-year-old girl filed a complaint. Coyle resigned his position as band director the day before he was charged.
