Funeral in Chesapeake today for former Deep Creek football star

CHESAPEAKE

The funeral for a former Deep Creek High School football star who was killed in West Virginia will be held today.

Donte’ DeShawn Newsome, 25, died July 5 after being shot outside a nightclub in Huntington, according to police.

His funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Deep Creek Baptist Church, according to his obituary. He will be buried in Roosevelt Memorial Park.

Police told reporters after the incident that left two other men wounded that an argument that started inside the club was carried into the parking lot.

Newsome played football for Marshall University and was a player for the Amarillo Dusters, an indoor football team.

A very sad day

For the family and friends this will be a very sad day to loose another young man to gun violence. When will it ever end?
