Landmark Communications sells Nashville TV station

Posted to: Business Norfolk

Landmark Communications Inc. of Norfolk announced Monday that it plans to sell NewsChannel 5 (WTVF-TV), the CBS affiliate in Nashville,  to Bonten Media Group LLC. Terms were not disclosed.

On July 6, Landmark announced that it had agreed to sell The Weather Channel to NBC Universal and two private equity firms. NBC and Landmark did not disclose the price, but people close to the negotiations pegged it at about $3.5 billion.

In January, Landmark officials said they were looking to sell the company’s properties. They include The Virginian-Pilot; dozens of other daily, weekly and military newspapers; the Las Vegas television station affiliated with CBS; and Dominion Enteprises, an information and marketing services company based in Norfolk.
