Lee Hall Mansion was built in 1859 by affluent planter Richard Decauter Lee. Three years after the house was completed, it became one of the first battlegrounds of the Civil War. During the war, it was used as a Confederate headquarters. Restored to its antebellum appearance, the historic house is now a museum documenting the 1862 Peninsula Campaign and is open to the public. Special prgrams and lectures are offered throughout the year interpreting the Civil War.
